1. Who we are
MasjidPoint ("we", "us") operates a platform that connects masjids with local businesses and community members. A business advertises, lists a job, or sells through a specific masjid; that masjid approves the arrangement and receives an agreed share of what is paid.
We are an intermediary. We are not the seller of goods listed in a masjid shop, not the employer for any role advertised, and not a party to the relationship between a business and a masjid beyond operating the platform and handling payment as described in section 5.
2. Accounts
You must give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- Keep your password to yourself. Do not share it, and change it if you think someone else knows it. You can change it at any time from your portal settings.
- Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has used your account.
- One account represents one masjid, one business, or one individual. Do not create an account on behalf of an organisation you are not authorised to represent.
- Registering a masjid requires you to confirm you are authorised by that masjid to do so. We verify masjid registrations before activating them.
3. Masjids
A masjid registers free of charge. Once we have verified and approved the registration, the masjid may:
- set its own monthly advertising price, job listing fee, and the percentage it keeps;
- approve or reject every business that applies to advertise or hire through it;
- enable or disable any listing that carries its name;
- receive its agreed share of everything paid through it, settled by us and recorded against the masjid.
A masjid is responsible for the businesses it approves. Approval is a statement that the masjid is willing to be publicly associated with that business. We do not independently vet the goods, services or conduct of approved businesses.
A masjid must not accept payment directly from a business in exchange for approval, or make approval conditional on anything outside these terms.
4. Businesses
A business may apply to advertise, list jobs, or sell through any masjid accepting listings. Applying is not a right to be listed; the masjid decides.
- The price is fixed when you apply. A later change to that masjid's rates does not re-price an application already in progress.
- Advertising is charged monthly. A listing that is live for any part of a month is charged for that month in full; there is no daily pro-rata calculation.
- Your listing goes live only once payment has been verified and the masjid has enabled it. Both are required.
- Everything you publish must be accurate, lawful, and something you are entitled to offer. You must hold any licence, registration or insurance your trade requires.
- You must not misrepresent your relationship with a masjid, or imply endorsement beyond the listing the masjid has approved.
5. Payments
Payment is by bank transfer to the account published on the platform, quoting the exact payment reference shown to you. That reference is how a payment is matched to your account or order.
- We will never ask you to send money to a different account, to an individual, or by any other method.
- We will never ask for your card number, PIN, online banking password, or a one-time code.
- A payment without its reference, or sent to any other account, may not be matched to you and may be delayed or lost.
- Every payment is verified against our bank statement before the thing you paid for goes live. Submitting evidence of payment is not the same as payment being verified.
- Masjid shares are settled by us to the masjid, recorded with a transaction reference and an audit entry.
If anyone asks you to pay somewhere else, it is not us. Stop and report it using the details in section 6.
If a payment is later reversed, charged back, or found to be fraudulent, we may suspend the related listing or order immediately, reverse any credit applied, and recover the amount from the party who made the payment. Any masjid share already settled on the strength of that payment may be recovered from future settlements.
6. Fraud and misuse
The following are prohibited, and we treat them seriously:
- registering, or attempting to register, a masjid you are not authorised to represent;
- impersonating a masjid, a business, MasjidPoint, or any of our staff, in any medium;
- submitting false or altered evidence of payment, including edited screenshots or receipts;
- claiming a payment reference, invoice or order that is not yours;
- directing anyone to pay outside the platform for something listed on it, or asking a community member to transfer money to a personal account;
- listing goods or services you cannot lawfully supply, or that you do not intend to supply;
- using another person's account, or obtaining access to one;
- attempting to interfere with, probe or overload the platform.
We keep records that let us investigate: payment references and amounts, evidence submitted, approval and settlement decisions with timestamps and the administrator responsible, and an audit log of significant actions. We may use these records to investigate suspected fraud, to defend a claim, and to assist the police, a bank or a regulator.
Where we reasonably suspect fraud we may suspend an account, withhold a settlement, remove listings, and refuse future applications, without notice. Where we believe a criminal offence has been committed we may report it.
Reporting fraud. If you are asked to pay outside the platform, receive a suspicious message using our name, or believe a listing is fraudulent, stop and contact us before paying anything. Keep the message or reference and send it to us so it can be investigated.
7. The masjid shop
Products are sold through a masjid's shop. Depending on what that masjid offers, you may pay by bank transfer before collection, pay the masjid when you collect, or pay for delivery.
- An order is confirmed once payment is verified, or — where you are paying at the masjid — when you collect and pay.
- A masjid can only see, prepare and hand over orders whose payment has been accounted for.
- Delivery charges and available methods are set by each masjid and shown before you order.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by these terms. Where goods are faulty or not as described, contact us and we will deal with the masjid supplying them.
8. Job listings
Roles are advertised by businesses through a masjid that has approved them. The business is the prospective employer. We are not the employer, do not screen candidates, and take no part in the hiring decision.
When you apply, the details you provide and the CV you attach are made available to that business. Do not include information you would not want the employer to see. Businesses must use applications only for the role advertised, and must handle applicant information in line with data protection law.
9. Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove an account or listing where these terms are broken, where payment is not made or is reversed, where a masjid withdraws its approval, or where we reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
You may close your account at any time. Amounts already due remain payable, and we keep the records described in our privacy policy for as long as the law requires.
10. Our responsibility
We operate the platform with reasonable care and skill. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, or that any listing, business or masjid will meet your expectations.
We are not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of goods and services offered by businesses or masjids, for the conduct of an employer or candidate, or for anything agreed between users away from the platform.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
You are responsible for losses we suffer because you broke these terms, and you agree to cover reasonable costs we incur as a result, including in defending a claim brought because of what you published or did.
11. General
We may change these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept it. If a provision is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
See also our privacy policy, which explains what we do with the information you give us.
